USF Business Major Pathway

If you have strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, enjoy interacting with people and are skilled at communication, the Exploratory Curriculum: Business Pathway at the University of South Florida may be the ideal choice for you.

We’ll help you prepare to navigate the industry and commerce that drive our economy.

Do you want to be on Wall Street or start your own company? Do you want to work with technology or with people? Do you want to work across the country or around the globe? These are critical questions, and they may be holding you back from choosing a major.

We designed our Exploratory Curriculum to help freshmen like you decide where you fit into the business world. Through this program, you can take up to 36 credit hours of courses before committing to a major. As you plan your pathway, note that those 36 credit hours ALSO include any credit hours you completed through AP, IB, AICE, dual enrollment, etc.

A cornerstone of the Exploratory Curriculum program at USF is U-Decide, a course to help you tune in to your passions.

Learn valuable skills that apply to not only a business major but to any other major or career. Become skilled at:

  • Thinking critically about social issues
  • Finding solutions via collaboration
  • Communicating your ideas effectively

You’ll connect with other students who share your interest in a business career. You’ll also meet with USF professors and get personalized support from academic advisors.

Our exploratory curriculum pathway in business provides an excellent opportunity to discover your niche and find the business degree or related program for the career you want. Gain exposure to core business disciplines such as accounting, economics, finance, management and marketing, allowing you to identify areas that spark your interest and align with your strengths. Follow a recommended plan of study as you explore unfamiliar fields, and if the business pathway isn’t right for you, you can switch to another.

Business degree pathway courses can include:

You’ll work with an advisor to find the path that’s right for you. Students in this pathway often go on to work in careers like:
